"Der Cholerabrunnen" (Το Συντριβάνη της Χολέρας) στην Γερμανική πόλη Dresden (Δρέσδη) έχει κατασκευαστεί για να εορταστεί το γεγονός ότι η πόλη γλίτωσε την επιδημία της χολέρας που είχε ξεσπάσει στην Ευρώπη την περίοδο 1841-1842. Η κατασκευή του χρηματοδοτήθηκε από τον Βαρώνο Eugen von Gutschmid. Γλύπτης ήταν ο Franz Schwarz, αρχιτέκτονας ο Gottfried Semper, ενώ την σχεδίαση έκανε ο Karl-Moritz Seeling. Επίσημα παραδόθηκε στην πόλη της Δρέσδης στις 15 Ιουλίου του 1846. Βρισκόταν αρχικά σε άλλη θέση και μεταφέρθηκε εκεί που είναι σήμερα το 1891. Έχει υποστεί κατά καιρούς πολλές ζημιές και βανδαλισμούς. Οι μεγαλύτερες εργασίες αποκατάστασης έγιναν την περίοδο του 1996-1997.
[ENG] Der Cholerabrunnen (The Cholera Fountain) in the German city of Dresden has been built to celebrate the fact that the city was spared from the cholera epidemic that had broken out in Europe in the period 1841-1842. Its construction was financed by Baron Eugen von Gutschmid. The sculptor was Franz Schwarz, the architect was Gottfried Semper, while the design was made by Karl-Moritz Seeling. It was officially given to the city of Dresden on 15.07.1846. It was originally at a different location and was moved where it is today in 1891. It suffered many damages and vandalisms during its life. Major restoration works took place in the period 1996-1997.
