| You came out of the thunder’s belly...

[ENG] You came out of the thunder’s belly / Shuddering in the penitential clouds / Bitter stone, tested, defiant / You summoned the sun to be your first witness / To confront with you the impetuous radiance / To open out with a crusading echo in the sea [Abstract from "Ode to Santorini" of Odysseus Elytis]

Ηλιοβασίλεμα από το ξενοδοχείο | Sunset from the hotel

[ENG] Sunset from a hotel in Firostefani of Santorini... I have mixed feelings about these photos... I feel that they are a little bit over processed...

| Fisheye Lens

[ENG] I wanted to take a photo of sun-dried octopus, for a long time, but I never had this chance... Our friend, Jana Teneva, when she was on the island, some time ago, she said to us that she considers this to be "a real Greek image"... Unfortunately, we did not have such a chance while she was here... I was more lucky the previous Saturday while walking from Fira to Imerovigli, since I saw tentacles of octopuses sun-drying outside the restaurant of "Mama Thira" hotel in Firostefani... The only "dissonance" was the presence of a small yellow post-it, where it was written "for hygienic reasons, do not touch"

Ωδή στην προσφορά | Ode to Offer

[ENG] "Ode to offer" is the creation of Pepos, which presents a donkey carrying on its back the whole Santorini island... It is another one of the twenty donkeys of the open-air exhibition "Donkey Republic 2010", which can be found at various places of Santorini... This specific one can be found at Firostefani, in front of St. Gerasimos church...

| Lazarus and other Easter traditions of Santorini

[ENG] Three of the most impressive local traditions in Santorini for the Orthodox Eastern are the night of the Epitaph at village Pyrgos, the tradition of 'Lazarus' and the "burning of Judas" at village Perissa. 'Lazarus' is a big wooden cross covered with rosemary and flowers made in the morning of Lazarus Saturday (the day before Palm Sunday) and kept ornated till the day before Easter Sunday. At this day it is uncovered and it stays at its position (usually the main square of the village or outside the church) till Ascention Day. During Easter Sunday, at Perissa the locals hang an effigy of "Judas" and they shoot at him till it burns. The same day at the main square of village Pyrgos the trial of Judas take place and after the trial Judas is burnt...
