Τα Σύρματα στο Κλήμα | The Fisherman Huts of Klima

Klima, Milos

[ENG] Klima is probably the most picturesque village of the Greek island Milos... There one can see the so-called "sirmata", the fisherman huts where the locals store their boats for the winter...

Even though all the world, when it thinks about Greek islands, has in mind white and blue houses, this is a relatively recent situation, after 1936... Till that time the houses on the Greek islands had various colours... Then during a dictatorship, the prime minister decided the colours of the houses to be white and blue in order to match the colours of the Greek flag and to be clear to which country the Aegean islands belong...

where from the certainty that people associate the colors in this way? I do not know whether this is so obvious for everyone :(

the place is beautiful, and without these colors would be probably a little sad

Actually, Gosia, white and blue are the most common colors on the Greek islands:
