| Plamy...

Murarz, the Stonemason...

- Τι νάνοι;
- Είσαι τρελός;
- Άκου, ήπιες πολύ σήμερα;
- Τότε πως βλέπεις τριγύρω σου νάνους;
- (Με ανακούφιση) Αααα! Φοιτητές! (και μετά ξανά ανήσυχος) Και τι κάνουν αυτοί οι νάνοι;
- Τι τραγουδάνε;

["The Lives of the Orange Men" by Waldemar "Major" Fydrych]

[ENG] Everything started by some paint spots... In 1981 in Poland, martial law was imposed by the Communist Regime. It was, though, two late to set back the route to the freedom of expression... The regime was trying in vain to cover under paint spots the slogans on the walls requesting freedom that appeared everyday on the walls of the Polish cities... And then, one day, above these "surrealistic" paint spots of the regime appeared a surrealistic creature, the Krasnoludek, the red hatted dwarf of Wroclaw... The dwarfs were always known to be hard working: They work in the mines, they cut trees, they protect princesses... The Polish people are also known to be hard working... Somehow like that, the one dwarf become two, the two become three and the dwarfs start to appear on the walls of all the Polish cities... And then, one day, the dwarfs become true... - Who are they? - someone from the militia headquarters inquires. - They are dwarves. - What dwarves? - Well, just dwarves - the militiamen responds through a walkie-talkie! Are you mad or what? ! - the voice from the headquarters rises in disbelief. - No, we are not mad, really, there are dwarves in the street. We are arresting them. - Listen, haven't you drunk too much today? - No, we haven't been drinking. - So how come you are seeing dwarves around? - There are students dressed up as dwarves. - Oh, I see! Students - the voice from the walky talky appears reassured. - And what are they doing, these dwarves? - the voice from the headquarters sounds worried again. - They are singing. - Singing what? - "We are the dwarves" - In that case bring them back to the headquarters... ["The Lives of the Orange Men" by Waldemar "Major" Fydrych] People with red caps was the most surrealistic answer to the Red Army... And those people overthrown the regime by making fun of it and proving that the only thing that even the worst regime cannot handle is the defiance of the people... Note: The dwarfs were originally an idea of the 33 years old (at that time) guy from Wroclaw, Waldemar Fydrych, known also with his nickname "Major".
