Το Παλαιστινιακό είναι ένα θέμα που με απασχολεί πολλά χρόνια τώρα και έτσι η ιστορία με τον "Στόλο της Ελευθερίας" ήταν κάτι που δεν μπορούσε να με αφήσει αδιάφορο... Την επόμενη μέρα από την βάρβαρη επιδρομή του Ισραηλινού στρατού, έρχεται μια δεύτερη είδηση να με συγκλονίσει: Μια νεαρή αμερικανοεβραία φοιτήτρια καλών τεχνών έχασε το αριστερό της μάτι σε διαδήλωση, όταν την πέτυχε ένα δακρυγόνο το οποίο εκτοξεύτηκε από Εβραίους στρατιώτες... Ήταν, όμως, ένα απλό ατύχημα;
Πρέπει να γίνει αντιληπτό ότι κανένα από τα δύο τελευταία γεγονότα, ούτε οι νεκροί στον Στόλο της Ελευθερίας, ούτε και ο τραυματισμός της Έμιλυ, έγιναν τυχαία...
H αραβικής καταγωγής حنين زعبي (Χανέεν Ζουμπί), μέλος του Ισραηλινού Κνεσσέτ, η οποία βρισκόταν πάνω στο πλοίο Mavi Marmara (Μαβί Μαρμαρά) δήλωσε ότι "ήταν ξεκάθαρο από το μέγεθος της στρατιωτικής δύναμης που επιβιβάστηκε στο πλοίο ότι ο στόχος τους δεν ήταν να σταματήσουν τον στόλο αλλά να προκαλέσουν τις μεγαλύτερες δυνατές απώλειες ώστε να αποτρέψουν άλλες τέτοιες πρωτοβουλίες στο μέλλον".
Η 21χρονη Έμιλυ, ένα ιδιαίτερα πολιτικοποιημένο άτομο, όπως μπορεί κανείς εύκολα να καταλάβει από τα έργα της, είναι αντίθετη στην κατοχή της Δυτικής Όχθης και της Λωρίδας της Γάζας από το Ισραήλ... "Gaza on my Mind" ("Η Γάζα είναι στο Μυαλό μου") έγραψε στον λογαριασμό της στο facebook την Δευτέρα 31 Μαΐου, λίγο πριν ξεκινήσει για την διαδήλωση στο σημείο ελέγχου της قلنديه (Καλαντίγια).
Η παρουσία της έγινε αμέσως αντιληπτή από τους Ισραηλινούς στρατιώτες και γρήγορα στοχοποιήθηκε... Για αυτούς, αυτή είναι ο μεγαλύτερος κίνδυνος και όχι οι μικροί παλαιστίνιοι που τους πέταξαν μερικές πέτρες... Το πολιτικοστρατιωτικό κατεστημένο του Ισραήλ και οι σιδερόφραχτες λεγεώνες του είναι προφανές ότι δεν κινδυνεύουν, ούτε από τους νεαρούς παλαιστίνιους με τις σφεντόνες, ούτε από την διαβόητη Χαμάς... Κινδυνεύουν από τους όλο και αυξανόμενους Ισραηλινούς πολίτες που συνειδητοποιούν ότι η μέχρι σήμερα πολιτική του κράτους τους μόνο προς το χειρότερο οδηγεί τα πράγματα... Έτσι, λοιπόν, οι στρατιώτες έπρεπε να κάνουν ότι μπορούσαν για να αποτρέψουν άλλους "δικούς τους" να κάνουν ό,τι είχε το κουράγιο να κάνει η Έμιλυ... Το πέτυχαν; Προσωπικά δεν νομίζω...
Προσωπικά πιστεύω, όπως άλλωστε είχα προβλέψει και στο παρελθόν, τα τελευταία γεγονότα είναι ο επιθανάτιος ρόγχος του σημερινού κατεστημένου του Ισραήλ... Όσο, όμως, βλέπουν ότι το έδαφος χάνεται κάτω από τα πόδια τους, τόσο πιο σκληροί θα γίνονται, απλά επιταχύνοντας το αναπόφευκτο...
Ο πρώτος λόγος που ευαισθητοποιήθηκα με την ιστορία της Έμιλυ ήταν ότι μου φάνηκε πολύ τραγικό μια νεαρή κοπέλα που ασχολείται με τις καλές τέχνες να χάσει το μάτι της... Γρήγορα έπεσα πάνω στο ιστολόγιο της, το "Thirsty Pixels" ("Διψασμένα εικονοστοιχεία")... Συνταράχτηκα περισσότερο όταν είδα ότι το άβαταρ της Έμιλυ ήταν... ένα μάτι... και η περιγραφή της, "A Visual Adventure" ("Μια Οπτική Περιπέτεια"). Αρχικά το θεώρησα τραγική ειρωνεία... Τώρα πια έχω συνειδητοποιήσει ότι η Έμιλυ είναι απλά ένα άτομο με οξυμένη ενόραση και σίγουρα θα εξακολουθεί να βλέπει, να κατανοεί και να αντιλαμβάνεται ό,τι γίνεται γύρω της πολύ καλύτερα από όλους εμάς...

[ENG] The Palestinian issue is something that concerns me a lot, so the last days I was following the news related to the "Freedom Flotilla"... The day after the deadly raid of the Israeli army, I saw in twitter something that shocked me: Emily Henochowicz, a young U.S. Jewish art student and activist, lost her left eye at a roadblock protest, when she was hit in the face with a tear gas canister [1]... Do you think it was just an accident? We have to realize that none of the last two events, neither the killings on Mavi Marmara, nor the injury of Emily, just happened accidentally... Arab Knesset member, Hanin Zoabi, who participated in Gaza aid flotilla and was on Mavi Marmara, said in a press conference that, "It was clear from size of force that boarded ship that purpose was not to stop sail, but to cause largest number of fatalities to prevent future initiatives" [2]. 21 year old Emily, a highly politicized person, as one can easily understand from her artworks, opposes Israeli occupation of the West Bank and of the Gaza Strip... "Gaza on my Mind", she wrote at her facebook status on Monday, May 31st, shortly before joining the demonstration at Qalandiya checkpoint. Her presence was immediately noticed by the Israeli soldiers... Even though she was standing peacefully during the demonstration, for them, she was the greatest danger and not the young Palestinians who threw some stones... The political and military elite of Israel and their ironclad legions are clearly not endangered by neither the Palestinian youths with the slingshots, nor the infamous Hamas... They are threatened, though, by the growing number of the Israeli citizens who realize that the policy of their state can only make things worst... So, the soldiers had to do whatever they could to prevent others of "their" people to do what Emily had the courage to do... Did they succeed? I do not think so... Personally, I believe, and I had predicted in the past, that the recent events are the death rattle of the current Israeli elite... But, the more they would feel the ground moving under their feet, the more brutal they will become, simply accelerating the inevitable... The first reason I become concerned with the history of Emily was that it seemed to me too tragic a young girl dealing with the arts to lose her eye... Soon I came upon her blog, "Thirsty Pixels"... I was even more shocked when I saw that Emily's avatar was an... eye... and her blog's description was "A Visual Adventure". Initially, I thought that all these was a tragic irony... Now, after lot of thinking, I realized that Emily is simply a person with heightened intuition and she will certainly continue to see, understand and perceive, with her soul, everything that is around us, a lot better than us...
