Πριν από λίγες μέρες, καθώς επιθεωρούσα κάποιες εκσκαφές για υπόγεια δίκτυα στον περιβάλλοντα χώρο του Προϊστορικού Οικισμού του Ακρωτηρίου της Σαντορίνης, το μάτι μου έπεσα σε ένα μικροσκοπικό πέτρινο σχηματισμό πάνω σε μια ξηρολιθιά (πετρόχτιστη μάντρα), κάτι σαν μικροσκοπικός θόλος από μικρές πέτρες. Φαινόταν να είναι φτιαγμένο ακριβώς με τον ίδιο τρόπο που φτιάχνονται οι λιθόστρωτοι δρόμοι στο νησί.
Δυστυχώς, η περιέργεια του ηλεκτρολόγου που ήταν μαζί μου ήταν ιδιαίτερα καταστροφική και δεν μου έδωσε την ευκαιρία να φωτογραφήσω την κατασκευή στη θέση της. Μέσα, πάντως υπήρχε ένα κουκούλι, σαν αυτά που φτιάχνουν οι αράχνες...
Πήρα ότι απέμεινε στα χέρια μου και το πήγα στο γραφείο μου... Εκεί που το φωτογράφιζα, συνειδητοποίησα ότι κάτι κινείτο μέσα του... Μέσα σε ελάχιστα δευτερόλεπτα ξεπήδησε από μέσα μία αράχνη... Ήταν μαύρη, χνουδωτή, με άσπρες ρίγες... Αν και δεν είμαι αραχνολόγος, φαινόταν να είναι αράχνη Salticus Scenicus, γνωστή και ως "Αράχνη - Ζέβρα". Είναι πολύ διαδεδομένη στην Ευρώπη. Δεν κατάφερα, πάντως, πουθενά να βρω αν αυτή η αράχνη επιδίδεται συχνά στην κατασκευή οικοδομών...
[ENG] A few days ago, while supervising some excavation works for the underground networks in the area of the Prehistoric Settlement of Akrotiri in Santorini, my eyes fall on a tiny stone formation on a stone wall. It was something like a small igloo made of tiny stones. It seemed to be constructed exactly the same way that the locals construct the stone-paved streets on the island. Unfortunately, the curiosity of the electrician, who was with me, was very destructive and did not give me the opportunity to photograph the construction οn place. Inside, I saw a cocoon like the ones that spiders make... I took the remaining of the structure in my hands and I went to my office... While I was taking a photo of it, I realized that something was moving inside... Within a few seconds a small spider sprang from inside... It was black, hairy, with white stripes... I am not an arachnologist, but it looked like a Salticus scenicus, aka Spider - Zebra. It is very common in Europe. I could not find nowhere, however, if this spider is such a good stonemason...
